Feb 14 update

 I'm replacing a bunch of cgs in ALAWT. It's really forcing me to try harder at drawing and I guess that's good but it also kind of sucks. I've got 2 done, but I'd like to finish up a third before considering any sort of update. I've also rewritten some lore to make things slightly more mysterious. I feel like Lea was too knowledgeable before and I want her to be less omniscient.

March 31 Update - Optimizations

I added a script that would save all enemy positions and added interactable object support to my collider script (which was just looking for any object with Armature in the name and replacing it with the specific tscn file). I generalized how I was loading enemies as well. I took another dive into optimization and all I could find was it was almost all physics related. I'm already using Godot Jolt which gives a bit of improvement, and using spheres for enemy colliders. But the biggest factor was reducing the number physics steps per frame. I still have to test how this is going to affect the raycasts, but it was all move_and_slide's issue.  I also started modeling the gatherer. My thought processes on this one was it wouldn't make any noise, aside from dragging its sack since it has no mouth and it has copious numbers of eyestalks since its purpose is to find food but not for itself. in progress

May 4th update

 Working on a new female base model because I need to make customers for the bar and my old one had a bunch of issues.  I further expanded the item spawning system and added a shop system. Also added some nice to haves. Things are a bit slow since I'm busy with other life commitments, but still pushing through that and working a little here and there when I have the chance.

June 4 Update

 Still making slow but steady progress on the boss, things slowed halfway through due to a navigation bug but that's fixed now. Current work is on a projectile system, which is working in its most basic form. One new thing I've found is collision detection for areas do not work well if you're using anything other than a ConvexPolygonShape for some reason. The area detection will be extremely slow with any other type of collision shape, including stuff like cylinder shape. I'll have to rework my attack system to work with a convex polygon shape since its still kinda dicey right now. With any other shape it takes about a full second before it detects any bodies/areas inside it. I think this is a bug, based on some current open issues in Godot. I'm also thinking of ideas for twists on the combat system. I'm thinking some of the current attacks might change later on depending on the twist I want to add. It's likely that the combat system won't be fully finis...
