Nov 6 Update - random attack experimentation

 I added the ability for Sera to choose a random attack out of a category of attacks. This was great for her counterattacks. Its not so easy to bait her into an attack and get the timing exactly right when there's two different attacks with different openings. Also longer range attacks with wider horizontal range is really nice as well, just makes her challenging.

She also has some extra medium range attacks and a different counter attack now for more annoyance. Also the block was slightly bugged earlier, now it fully works so she blocks all the time except during vulnerable windows. In addition, a successful dash counterattack results in a full combo on the player so she shreds hp quicker.

In the video below you can see how the same trick (homing dash that gives a bit of invincibility that's broken against the dash counterattack) doesn't work the same since the window of vulnerability is at a different time. The homing dash has to be used a bit later so the player doesn't get hit by the second hit whereas for the dash counterattack, the homing dash must be used almost immediately. I have to think of ways to telegraph to the player which counterattack it is though since right now its a bit unfair. Maybe using different particle effects and sound effects. I want to make this boss pretty tough so the vulnerable window is rather small.


The boss can be comboed up to 10 hits before "falling" and escaping - this includes multihit attacks - so lower hit number higher damage weapons are more useful (gauntlet) but this boss is fast (sword has the advantage in first hit due to its speed), so the player will hopefully be encouraged to swap weapons. I didn't want to make it so the boss couldn't be launched or comboed, I want the feedback to be satisfying on every enemy, maybe with the exception of very large bosses where launching doesn't make sense.

I have a framework for the silly story for the demo. Its planned to be a random side story within the storyline of the game itself. Rhys trying to get something for her girlfriend, Sera trying to do something nice for her wife. Just two idiots having a friendly spar.

...A bunch of the animations still need to be improved as well and there's a few annoying mostly visual bugs that have to be fixed. Godot 4 port is also planned.
